Strong, sexy, gorgeous: NessaV is sugar and spice and everything nice with an urban, street edge. Imagine grimy pop with traces of hip hop and R&B, contrasted with soft, feminine melodies. Her sultry voice, irresistible Afro-Brazilian inspired beats, and jaw-dropping Capoeira skills have captivated audiences all over North America.
NessaV began learning the Brazilian martial art, Capoeira, when she was only five years old. She has since performed live Capoeira demonstrations on Much Music, Breakfast Television, YTV, and innumerable events all over the world. She represents her Brazilian heritage proudly, often incorporating cultural elements into her songwriting and live shows.
Born and raised in a musical family, she was encouraged to sing, to learn how to play instruments, and to dance. In fact, this down-to-earth Vancouverite trained in a variety of dance styles including Brazilian, African folk dancing, and hip hop, which helped her land roles in films and music videos for groups such as the Rascals and Transfiguration.
She currently works with L.A.-based, two-time Grammy nominated producer, Randy Emata. Her first single, “Salty”, will be available on November 2009. She is expected to release her debut album, “Aché”, early next spring.
